Welcome to the Cambridge Nuclear Energy group

We are a research group in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. We focus on the design and simulation of nuclear reactors, as well as computational methods in radiation transport more generally.

We aim to improve the efficiency and economics of current nuclear reactors, as well as exploring advanced reactor concepts. This includes designing reactors to produce high temperature heat for improved efficiency and industrial needs and developing reactors for space applications. We also work to improve the efficiency of radiation transport methods (especially those relevant to reactors). To this end, we have developed the Monte Carlo code SCONE to prototype and test new algorithms. More details can be found in Research.

We are located in the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge.

We are looking for passionate new PhD students and Postdocs to join the team. We also have our own Master’s course (more info) !
